Waste to Energy

Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) involved the process of creating fuel from waste. RDF is largely made up of municipal waste consisting of combustible components such as biodegradable waste and plastic. This is then shredded and used within combined heat and power facilities where it can produce electricity. Solid Recovered Waste has a higher calorific value and is predominantly used within facilities such as cement kilns.
